Thinking about removing dual weapons w/single button fire

All of the current weapons only have 1 version of themselves. Meaning, the 30cal can only be fired by the "right mouse button click" and the firerite rocket can only be fired using the "left mouse button click".
I've been making a "right" and "left" version of EACH weapon, therefor we will still have dual weapon capablity, but not 2 weapons for 1 click. Reason why, is the duals are just flat out overpowered.
This allows us to come up with alot more varied weapon setups and is alot easier for me to balance. As it is right now, a car w/one of the dual setups(50cal or 7.62mm) can effectively fire 3 weapons at once, which is very overpowered and throws everything out of wack.
I think at the beginning the duals were a good idea, but now we're going to be bringing in at least 5 new vehicle mounted weapons in the near future and alot more cars too and I'm finding that the duals are just way too overpowered and wouldn't fit in with our new setup.
I think we should do it, but obviously I'm not the boss and I want everyones input.
Please note though, dual weapons will still be in game, but you'll have to click both mouse buttons to do so. This will make my job alot easier and IMO make the play experience ALOT better, since you can have basically any combination of weapons on your ride.
If you have any ideas, please post them.

Well, as it is right now, a car w/dual weapons can fire 3 weapons at once which is an instakill. With what I've suggested, it'll be 2 at once max. It's not a matter of being easier, I'm just trying to make it more balanced so the gameplay is topnotch.
Every weapon will have a primary and secondary version(that is not the case right now). This means we can have dual firerite rockets and dual dr radars. This wasn't possible before.
The main point is balancing. With primary and secondary versions of everything, there is no need for "dual" setups(1 mouse click). They are just too powerful.
An example: Instead of clicking the right mouse button to fire the dual 7.62mm's, you'll have to choose 7.62mm for primary and secondary and then hold down both mouse buttons.
The cool thing about this is the weapon setups on the cars get alot more diverse and fun.
That and nobody is instakilling anyone else. It's fair and balanced.

But for our mod the dual guns should not be twice as strong as the single mounted versions, maybe around 120 - 150% of the single version.
As secondary weapon should a "passive" weapon like the minedropper/ flamethrower be attached.

The main problem for me would be how to assign all those weapons with an unique itemindex so they could be used in any combination, especially when new weapons arrive.

Well, that's EXACTLY the problem. Right now the duals aren't double the damage of a single. The problem is when we have a primary and secondary that are the same, they do double damage, whereas the duals don't.
I guess all the work I put into making different versions of all the weapons was a waste of time.
Another problem is the bots CAN'T FIRE ANY of the dual weapons. So they're useless in single player or co-op.

Ironically, that's what I'll probably be doing tomorrow.
Dual weapons are a failure. 2 seperate weapons at once is way too overpowering. Having duals on 1 button IS the answer, BUT you CAN"t have another forward firing weapon as secondary. Just like Brian said, 1 firing forward, 1 back. Brian has solved the riddle! See, we really do care what you think.
