Hey guys, I have a powerfull enough PC, ATI 3870X2, 3 gigs ram, 3ghz dual core (830 pentium D) processor 500gb hdd and windows 7. For some reason, when I installed bf2 and patches and mods, the game slightly lags, like it is a recource problem or something. Hell, when I was on Vista, it performed perfectly with the same PC.
I just got this PC working again after like 10 months in a closet after my original hdd burned out. I have been installing everything on this new hdd for the past month, and for the most part, other games work fine. Does anybody have ANY stuttering or lagging when running everything on maximum settings on windows 7 ultimate 32 bit? Hell, It could be the ATI drivers for all I know, I just need some help, any ideas?

Does it happen with the mod or also in BF2 Vanilla?
I'm running perfectly fine: Phenom 2 940, GeForce 9600GT, 6 GB Ram, Win 7 x64

Well I guess I didn't restart my PC after installing BF2 like it said to, although I have no idea what that would do to make it lag? After restarting it seems all good. I just played some BFV and it was smooth this time. I will try FH2 and ISN and see if it does it anymore.

I get copious amounts of lag in BF2 if I have my sound set to hardware. When I set to software it is fine.

Do you have a dedicated soundcard or are you using your mainboards onboard chip?

I believe I have a sound blaster 24 bit in the one and the other is onboard but I'll have to get back to you on the details of which machine it occurs on, I won't be at my machines until the weekend. To be clear though I have XP on those machines not 7.

On the machine with onboard sound I can set my sound to hardware or software and get no lag. On the machine with the SB24 I get lag when set on hardware but software is O.K. I think it's a BF2 issue, I just wanted to make sure Anthony's lag wasn't because of this.
